On the Edge of Paradise. The sound of relentless crashing waves echoed off the steep cliffs, drowning out the chatter of the last remaining fair-weather tourists. As the storm clouds raced towards the shoreline to unleash their fury, I held my ground, doing my best to mimic the jagged, stone guards that protected the bay. One after another the powerful Pacific sent punishing swells to break along the coastal crags. No matter how defiantly it stands, the rocky coastline does not stand a chance. With celestial forces as an ally, the Pacific simply plays a war of attrition, letting the timeless ebb and flow of the tides grind away the rock, one grain at a time.
