Silent and Still. Sweat dripped from my brow as my feet plunged deep into the fresh, soft powder. A gentle breeze swept across the frozen lake, splashing me with a welcomed chill. I paused to catch my breath. It was time for a break. Crashing down into the snow I nearly disappeared from sight, entombed in walls of white. The cold touch of winter sent goosebumps up my arms and waves of shivers down my back. It was a brisk 20 degrees but I was burning up. Tucked into my burrow I waited as silence blanketed the landscape. Everything was still. The wilderness and solitude that surrounded me was all mine for the taking. I couldn’t help but smile.
