Story

Frozen Sunsets.  The red hues of the setting sun fell behind the dim, grey, overcast clouds, mixing to paint the horizon in wispy shades of purple.  Slowly, the snow covered silhouette of the mountain lost its winter glow as the last rays of light disappeared behind its jagged peaks.  Night was upon us and our last minute adventure to the great white north was coming to an end.  Reluctantly we turned towards the car, drawn by the faint whisper of Idaho calling us home.  With a slight shiver gradually taking over our bodies, the cold winds of winter blew at our backs, driving the remaining stragglers over the splintered ice to the protection of the tree line.  Hopping into the car, our warm breath hung in the air as if time was standing still.  In that moment my mind raced with the idea of an endless adventure, “Someday,” I thought to myself, but for now we have people waiting for us at home.  I’ll be back when the chilling temperatures of winter give way to the powerful warmth of the sun, so I can soak my feet in the refreshing waters of the lake while I watch new life emerge through the last remnants of snow. I can’t wait.
